Welcome to the 33rd Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show!

2012 promises to be an exciting year for those of us who love the outdoors, and the 33rd Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show is the perfect place to get things started!

The show, scheduled for March 9-11 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, includes everything you expect from the region’s largest outdoor show – plus it’s been expanded to include even more attractions that will make your visit even more exciting and productive.

More than 200 exhibitors in two buildings will be displaying acres and acres of outdoor products, making the Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show the best place to find the latest hunting, fishing, camping and farm equipment. And manufacturers’ reps will be working the show to answer your questions.

Plus there will be special show deals in each and every category. So be sure to come check out the booths covering all aspects of the outdoors, including:

• ATVs from all major manufacturers
• Boats from the area’s leading dealers
• Tractors and lawn equipment.
• RVs (new for 2012)

But deals on the latest products aren’t the only reason to come out to the show: There also will be top-quality entertainment and fantastic food.

The family oriented events currently scheduled for the show include:

• Louisiana Sportsman Open bass tournament – kick off the fishing season by watching the area’s top bass anglers vie for a guaranteed $10,000 top prize during this two-day tournament. • Louisiana Sportsman Big Buck Contest – The 2011-12 season produced an amazing crop of huge bucks, and there’s no better place to showcase that trophy than the Louisiana Sportsman Big Buck Contest. Didn’t kill a state record? No problem: Enter your best bucks for the year, and you’ll be entered into a random drawing for a Yamaha 350 Grizzly ATV! See the rules and details, and tell the taxidermist you’ll need to retrieve your antlers for the weekend!

• First Annual Louisiana Sportsman Jambalaya Cook-off – Gonzales is recognized as the “Jambalaya Capital of the World,” so it make perfect sense to have a jambalaya cook-off at an outdoor show held at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. The 1st Annual Louisiana Sportsman Jambalaya Cook-off kicks off the cooking season, and offers jambalaya cooks the opportunity to compete for cash, prizes and bragging rights. There’s even a mini-pot category for up-and-coming young cooks! And those with curious taste buds will be able to sample the cooks’ offerings. Competition is open to everyone, so be sure to download the rules and registration form, and get ready to showcase that special jambalaya recipe!

• Splash Dogs – Dogs are an integral part of our outdoor lives, from helping retrieve ducks to lying around the camp keeping us company. Splash Dogs provides the opportunity to show off your dog’s ability to stretch out in this dock-jumping competition. Come out and see the lengths to which K-9s will go for a little applause and a scratch behind the ears. All dogs – from hunting to lap versions – are welcome.
